Studio Etiquette

We want to create a comfortable and enjoyable environment for everyone in our studio. Here are a few guidelines to make your experience the best it can be:

1. Arriving and Settling In

To enhance your experience and secure a spot in the class, we discourage walk-ins, as space cannot be guaranteed. Please book through Momence before attending. The booking cut-off is set at 20 minutes prior to the start of the class.

To ensure you have ample time to prepare for your class, we recommend arriving at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. If you are new to the studio, please arrive at least 10 minutes in advance to sign in and get settled. This allows us to maintain a smooth flow and start on time. For the safety of our participants, we lock the doors at the start of each class to ensure the safety and security of all participants. For Reformer classes, if you haven't done Reformer before, it's important that you book a 15-minute intro session before your first group session to go over the Reformer machine and safety information.

If you are unable to attend a class, please cancel online within three hours before the scheduled class time. Late cancellations may result in a $5 fee and no shows may result in a $10 fee.

2. Dress Code and Comfort

Feel free to wear exercise clothing that makes you feel comfortable and allows for easy movement. It's best to choose breathable fabrics that are not too loose. This will help you fully engage in your practice and make the most of your time with us. We kindly ask all clients to wear grippy pilates socks during reformer classes, these socks are available for purchase at the studio. Additionally, for your convenience and to ensure a hygienic environment, we provide dry shampoo and deodorant for use before and after class.

3. Toilets and Shower Use

The studio does not have toilet facilities. However, shared toilets are available on the first floor, located beside the staircase. There are three showers available to use - two in the mat shala room and one on the ground floor at the end of the Woolworths toilets corridor (end of trip shower). Showers operate on a first-come first-served basis, and reservations can't be made in advance. Studio showers are only available between classes, please be sure to wrap up before the next class begins. Keep the area tidy for the next user. Remember to take your stuff and bath products with you when you leave.

4. Consideration for Others

Respecting our fellow students is essential. We kindly request that you refrain from wearing heavy cologne or perfume, as some individuals may be sensitive to scents.

5. Water Bottles

For safety reasons, we kindly request that you bring water in non-glass bottles.

6. Security

To ensure the safety of our students, the studio entrance will be locked once the class begins. This measure provides a secure space for everyone to focus and enjoy their practice.

7. Early Departures

While we encourage students to stay for the entirety of the class, we understand that unexpected circumstances or personal reasons may require you to leave early. If you anticipate needing to leave early, please inform your teacher at the beginning of the class, as the studio will be locked once the session starts. We appreciate your consideration in exiting quietly, respecting the experience of your fellow students.

Thank you for embracing these guidelines and helping us create a harmonious environment for everyone at our studio. We look forward to sharing many wonderful moments of growth and relaxation with you!

FAQ's

FAQ

Do I need to bring any equipment with me?

At Sama House, we provide all the equipment for you to make for a stress-free experience. You are welcome to bring your own mat or blanket to yoga classes however it is not necessary. It’s always a great idea to bring along a water bottle (no glass bottles please) and a towel!

I’ve never done pilates before, can I still try reformer?
Definitely! If you are new to reformer, join one of our 15-minute Reformer Intro Sessions designed specifically for beginners. Our instructors will introduce you to the Reformer machine, cover essential safety tips, and guide you through your first movements. We offer five of these sessions across our timetable, and you can book one right before your first group class.

I’m brand new to yoga, which class should I do?
We offer a variety of yoga classes and all of our styles are suitable for all levels of experience. Our teachers are always available to provide guidance and support, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and able to progress at their own pace.

Can I temporarily stop my debits if I go away?
Absolutely! With our memberships, you have the ability to temporarily freeze your account for up to 5 weeks per year. To do so, you are required to email us with the start and end dates, prior to you travelling.

I’m running 5 minutes late to class, can I still come in?
To ensure the safety of our students, the studio entrance will be locked once the class begins. This measure provides a secure space for everyone to focus and enjoy their practice and also ensures all participants have warmed up thoroughly before proceeding with the rest of the class.

Can I bring my child/teenager to sit at the side and watch?
At the moment, our studios are set up for participants only to ensure their safety. However, if your teenager would like to participate, the minimum age for yoga is 14 years of age, 16 years of age for reformer pilates and we require written consent from a parent/guardian for all participants under 18 years of age.

Are your classes open to both men and women?

Yes, we welcome men and women to all our classes at Sama House.

I have been charged a $10 payment. What is this for?
